The term Gamer is as generic as the term Reader. We have reached a point where games need a "dewey decimal system" for games so those of us who like RPGs aren't constantly forced into the Shooter looter section or GTA forced into Mario Bros.
So far games have been more defined by platform than content.
Time to consider changing that.
